Gin
Eight LandsOn a
clear day, from the top of the Ben Rinnes mountain, you can survey the eight
counties that surround us. Eight Lands organic vodka and gin are carefully
distilled in the Glenrinnes Distillery at the foot of this mountain.
We do
things properly at Glenrinnes Distillery. We invest an extraordinary amount of
time and effort into making our spirits because we
believe it comes through in the taste. We do not pretend to have a history
or provenance that is untrue. We are transparent. We can point to our
water source and trace the ingredients from every bottle of our
spirits. Our distillery is open to anyone that wants learn about
how we make Eight Lands.

Isle of CumbraeIsle of Cumbrae Distillers is
owned by 5 full and part-time “Millportonians”, distinctively positioned as
being one of the few all-female distilling teams in Scotland, and the only
international women’s team, drawing representation from the UK, Canada and the
USA.
A love of the island…and gin,
first brought us together, probably in one of Millport’s 5 pubs; certainly, the
conversations blossomed during Thursday quiz nights at the Twa Dugs! Our
conversations evolved from the general idea for an island distillery to raise
funds to support the campaign to save Millport’s historic Town Hall building –
a commitment that remains near and dear to us - to the realization that with
our collective life experience, skills, enthusiasm, and “why the hell not”
attitude, we could be the ones to start up a distillery for the island!
And so our story began in 2019.
We launched our first gin in September 2020...in the middle of the pandemic! By
the end of our first year, we had produced two international award-winning
gins. Our signature gin, Nostalgin, won gold at the Gin Masters and bronze
at IWSC as well as finalist standings at the Scottish Gin
Awards and the Gin Guide; Croc Rock won silver at the Gin
Masters and bronze at IWSC...a huge accomplishment for any distillery
in its first year. To add to those accolades, our team was also a finalist for
Best Newcomer for the Scottish Gin Awards! There are 2 products in this category.
Kilmartin Glen SpiritsWe are Louise & Greig MacPhail, founders of Kilmartin
Glen Spirits. We have had a passion for Gin for many years.
The
MacPhail family has had roots in Kilmartin village for over 100 years, we
wanted to create a legacy for the MacPhail generations to come within Kilmartin
Glen and it made sense to combine our passion for Gin, our history, the
abundance of botanicals and history of craft spanning 5000 years on our
doorstep. Having had limited experience in distilling but a passion to
learn we have partnered with the best crafts people in to learn and grow from.
Our aim is to have our own micro distillery in Kilmartin
Glen as soon as we can. We feel that this special little area in Argyll
which is soaked in an abundance of historical significance is worthy of a
sustainable, honest, and ethical Distillery of its very own. We will
strive to achieve a new landmark that the communities around it will be proud
to support and in turn support our communities.
Only the finest botanicals are used in our gin, and with the
help of Mark Williams of Galloway Wild Foods we identified the most sustainable
botanicals from Kilmartin Glen. These botanicals are picked by the MacPhail’s –
the young generation too! We hope to be distilling ourselves in Kilmartin Glen
as soon as we can, until then we have been lucky enough to partner with some of
the very best crafts people in the spirit business to create a very special
Gin! Our lovely refreshing Gin is bottled in a secluded micro distillery
amongst the rich farmlands of Lanark, Scotland. There is 1 product in this category.
Snawstorm SpiritsSnawstorm Spirits from The Speyside Vodka Co was set up by
Leon Chessor and launched in 2019 with the intention of creating a small batch
premium product with some unique and interesting characteristics.
We really wanted something that evoked the Scottish
landscape and suggests a cold and refreshing serve. The water used in making
our spirits is one of the purest in the world and emerges from natural in
springs in the Cairngorms national park where I’ve spent many days in blizzard
conditions roaming the hills and looking forward to a G&T after a hard
day’s walking. It spends around 50 years being gently filtered through the
layers of underground rocks and crevices, collecting its unique properties.
The colour schemes and logo worked amazingly well together
to create some strong branding, with a little Scottish twist on the wording, we
arrived at Snawstorm! Branding as clean and crisp as the spirit itself.
We started as a vodka producer using what’s known as
‘new-make’ spirit from one of the local whisky distilleries which we use as a
key ingredient to make our fantastic award-winning vodka and soon realised the
flavour profile of our vodka had great potential to be used as a base spirit
for gin.
Our key botanicals are dried Spanish oranges, fresh lime
peel and Scots pine needles.
The pine needles really work to compliment the juniper and
are locally foraged.
The finished product is a juniper forward gin with a fresh
citrus zing followed by a subtle, smooth earthy dryness coming from the cubebs,
cassia bark and almonds. Our suggested serve is with premium tonic and a slice
of lemon or swap the lemon for a couple of raspberries for an equally
refreshing alternative. There is 1 product in this category.
Persie GinThe husband-and-wife team behind Persie Distillery is Simon and Chrissie Fairclough. In 2013 they launched Gin Club Scotland – the world’s first touring gin club – with the sole purpose of hearing the voice of the customer. The game-plan? To use these insights to make a gin that hit the spot.
And that’s what they did. After one year, they harvested feedback from 3,000 gin tasters and found three styles of gin were consistently most popular: fruity, savoury and sweet. So recipe development started in earnest, and – in May 2016 – Persie’s Distillery Originals range was born: Zesty Citrus Gin; Herby & Aromatic Gin; and Sweet & Nutty Old Tom Gin.
These award-winning gins are hand-crafted in small batches on the site of the former Persie Hotel at the foot of Glenshee in Highland Perthshire. Dubbed Phil the Still, the 230 litre copper pot still is a thing of beauty, and the first in Scotland from Müller in Germany. In August the same year the distillery opened to the public and now opens its doors for drop-ins and liquid tours throughout the year.
Just two years later, in 2018, Persie Distillery joined forces with PADS (Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society) as its dedicated charity partner. As a keen dog-friendly business, the team’s mission was to release a family of ‘dog gins’ – with different styles of gin reflecting different breeds! For every bottle sold, £1 is donated to PADS to help provide care and shelter for the country’s unwanted dogs.
Carefully created to reflect the breed, Labrador Gin is traditional, soft in the mouth and warming – classically juniper-forward with a seasoned coriander and cardamom finish. Spaniel Gin reflects the breed by being lively on the palate: spicy and spirited yet very gentle, the gin is made using mace and cinnamon to give it great warmth and intensity. Dachshund is a liqueur made using freshly pressed limes with fruit left over from the distillery’s award-winning Zesty Citrus Gin. Like the breed, Dachshund Gin Liqueur is the perfect balance of sweet and sharp; bursting with zest, it has a long body and is best served short.
The Distillery’s latest release is Pusscat Vodka: a premium spirit with a silky smooth finish – just like a pussycat! As with the charity dog gins, the team remains committed to raising money for pet welfare with £1 per bottle sold going to Edinburgh Dog & Cat Home. One of the largest animal welfare facilities in Scotland, these funds help them in their vital work rescuing and rehoming lost, stray and abandoned cats.
Since starting production in February 2016, Persie Distillery has been voted Most Promising New Business by Perthshire Chamber of Commerce, awarded Best Marketing Campaign by the Scottish Gin Awards, given the honour of Best Craft Spirits Distillery in the UK by the Agriculture & Farming Awards, and shortlisted for Scottish Gin Destination of the Year. The gin range has also scooped a series of taste awards with Gold and Silver medals from the Scottish Gin Awards, the Scottish Field Gin Challenge and the International Wine & Spirits Competition, among others. We are particularly proud that Labrador Gin was voted Best Gin in Scotland in 2020 and Pusscat Vodka won Bronze at the World Vodka Awards in 2022, one of only four vodkas awarded a medal in the UK.There are 2 products in this category.
